Pierre Boudon was formerly a Professor of Communication Sciences at l’Université de Montréal and is currently an Associate Researcher with Lalicc, (Paris, Sorbonne) and with L.e.a.p. at l’Université de Montréal. He is one of the founders of the semiotics of place (Communications 27, Paris, 1976) of which one of the first volumes, Introduction à une sémiotique des lieux Klincksieck (Paris, 1981), is a synthesis of works undertaken in the 1970s. He is the author of numerous articles in many of the principal semiotics and linguistics magazines. This activity pertains on one hand to the analysis of architectural forms and territories, and on the other hand on the analysis of discourse. In addition to the first aforementioned volume, he is the author of four other works: Le paradigme de l’architecture (Éditions Balzac, Montréal, 1992), Le réseau du sens, une approche monadologique pour la compréhension du discours en deux volumes (Peter Lang, Berne, vol I : 1999, vol II : 2002), Le champ sémantique de la parenté, rapport langage et représentation des connaissances (L’Harmattan, Paris, 2002).
