2023-2025 – Jean-Pierre Chupin obtains a new research contract with Public Services and Procurement Canada for the future of Ottawa’s Wellington Street and its transformation into a civic space.
Ottawa’s Wellington Street is a central part of Confederation Boulevard in the Parliamentary Precinct of our nation’s capital. It is a famous civic space for celebration, mourning and peaceful protest.
Having a municipal roadway running directly through the Parliamentary Precinct has long been a challenge. In 2022, parliamentary, federal and municipal stakeholders launched an initiative to address this challenge.
The CRC-ACME team is carrying out feasibility studies for a design strategy combining an ideas competition reserved for Canadian student teams, followed by a project competition reserved for multidisciplinary professional teams.
